reVive // Guided Retreat Day
End of the Academic Year – The Road to Emmaus: Luke 24:13–35
Rooted in Scripture. Room to breathe.
“Most of us have more good teaching in our heads or our notebooks than we’ve had time to absorb.
reVive retreats are different. Each day is built around three sessions that go deep into Scripture – sitting with the text long enough to let Christ speak through it. Around them though, we build in genuine space: for reflection, for quiet, for the kind of processing and conversation that actually changes things.
The goal isn’t more content. It’s knowing ourselves more honestly and Christ more clearly, that we might love him more and be more deeply shaped into his image”
As another academic year draws to a close, many of us arrive carrying a mixture of emotions – gratitude, exhaustion, disappointment, frustration, excitement and hope. The story of the road to Emmaus begins in precisely such a place: two disciples walking in confusion and sorrow, only gradually recognising that the risen Christ has been beside them all along.
In this guided retreat day, we will reflect prayerfully on Luke 24:13–35 through three short guided sessions exploring themes of disappointment, Scripture, recognition, and renewed hope. As Jesus walks with the disciples, listens to their story, opens the Scriptures, and breaks bread with them, we are reminded that Christ often meets us most deeply in seasons of weariness and uncertainty.
The rhythm of the day will be intentionally unhurried, with generous space for silence, prayer, reflection, and rest in the peaceful surroundings of the Manor. This retreat offers an opportunity to look back over the past year with honesty and gratitude, while becoming more attentive to the presence of Christ in the midst of our journey.
Before the busyness and scattering of summer begins, come and make space to walk awhile with the risen Christ.
