Theological Library
Set within the beautifully restored 17th-century tithe barn of Yarnton Manor, the Lanier Theological Library is a unique place where historic architecture, modern scholarship, and Christian community life come together. As a non-lending research library, it serves both our resident community and the wider academic network, offering a peaceful environment for study, reflection, and dialogue.
Library day visitors
Day visitors can book in to use the library.
The Library is open Monday-Fridays, 9:30am-5pm.
Pen & Purpose
We provide structured study on Thursdays during the weeks of the University of Oxford’s full term. (See dates here.) Experience suggests that a daily rhythm often helps the writing flow. We gather for prayers at 9am in the Manor House, with blocks of time for writing, coffee, and lunch together, and then close with prayers at 3.45pm (though some choose to continue studying after this). With desks limited, please book your place by following the link (free registration – including lunch & refreshments).
Sabbatical and research residency
We have accommodation for sabbaticals and other research-focused visits to spend up to an academic year in residence with us.
We have a scholar’s room with 7 research carrels which can be assigned to our resident scholars on sabbatical for the duration of their residency (please note: availability not guaranteed).
