Our vision is to provide a space for intellectual exploration and excellent scholarship across the disciplines, with that research unified by the conviction that all truth is God’s truth, and that the Scriptural witness to God’s revelation in Jesus Christ is the proper starting point for understanding humanity, society, and our world. We seek to fulfil the calling to develop a Christian mind.
We do this by bringing research-focused academics together—from all career stages, postgraduate to emeritus, and including independent scholars—for study at our Library and in a nascent but growing series of academic events.
Day visitors may use the Library and join for seminars and other events.
We also host academics for periods of residency to pursue specific research projects, including for sabbaticals which may extend up to an academic year.
All of this is in the context of a community, which includes scholars-in-residence, and which shares life and prays together, seeking the whole of our lives to be formed by the Holy Spirit.

Scholar’s Seminars

At present, Fridays are the principal day for us to gather together. We worship, open Scripture, and pray together at 12.30pm in the Manor House’s Morning Room (downstairs), and share lunch at 1pm in the Long Gallery. On most Fridays during the weeks of the University of Oxford’s full term (dates here), we then have an academic seminar from 2-3pm. The Library is open throughout the day for study too.

Sabbatical and research residency

We welcome applications from academics who seek to spend up to an academic year in residence with us pursuing their research agenda, who share our vision for scholarship that is both academically rigorous and faithful, and who want to contribute to the intellectual community at Yarnton Manor.

Study at the library

Day visitors are welcome to use the Library for study. The Library is open Monday-Fridays, 9am-5pm. At present, desks are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Academic Events

We run academic workshops and seminars throughout the weeks of the University of Oxford’s full term.
