By Taxi
- Über runs in Oxford.
- We would also recommend Royal Cars taxi firm.
Do not follow Google maps directions for cycling from Oxford to Yarnton Manor as it will take you down a very muddy and not very nice lane that we call “the path of doom” – instead follow the following routes.
The road way:
- Find your way to the northern part of the city centre (where the Randolph hotel and the Martyr’s memorial are), which is called St. Giles’. Follow that North and take the left hand fork in the road (called Woodstock Road). This will have cycle paths along it (mostly as part of the footpath – particularly as you get further out).
- Follow the Woodstock Road all the way out of Oxford until you get to the first roundabout. Take the 3rd exit of the roundabout to stay on Woodstock Road.
- At the next roundabout, follow the cycle path and go under the dual carriageway to take the second exit, then the first exit at the next roundabout to continue following the Woodstock Road.
- When you get to the little roundabout which has the Turnpike pub on the right, turn left down Cassington Road into Yarnton Village.
- Turn left at Church Lane to get to Yarnton Manor.
The Canal Towpath way:
- Between Oxford station and the city centre there is the chance to get onto the canal towpath.
- Follow this North, until you get to the Woodstock Road bridge where you go left off the towpath to join the cycle path that runs alongside Woodstock Road.
- When you get to the little roundabout which has the Turnpike pub on the right, turn left down Cassington Road into Yarnton Village.
- Turn left at Church Lane to get to Yarnton Manor.
If you are not travelling by car, trains and coaches are the best way to get around the country.
Rail:
- Trains travel to Oxford station in the centre of town (on the S3 bus route to Yarnton) or Oxford Parkway station (closer to Yarnton if you are wanting to get a taxi from the station to Yarnton Manor (no direct bus route).
- You must purchase a ticket before you board – you can buy them at the station but it will be very expensive, especially if you are travelling at peak times. We recommend pre-booking via The Trainline.
Coach:
- These companies travel to Oxford from airports, as well as other key locations around Britain.
Around the Estate
We are a community striving to love and support each other, by booking to stay onsite you are agreeing to a certain standard of behaviour on-site that upholds this vision.
- Speed limit – please take care of others, particularly our free-range children, by driving very slowly around the site.
- Noise levels should not be such that will disturb other community members.
- We are a Pet free site
- No smoking or illegal substances.
- You are welcome to roam the grounds but as you do so please be considerate of residents in the cottages, and if you get muddy shoes please leave them at the door rather than decorate our carpets.
We would be delighted to give your group an overview of what we are doing here at Yarnton Manor as well as show you around the house, grounds and the library. Please do let staff know so that we can arrange a time to do this.
You are welcome to wonder around the grounds and make use of the beautiful gardens, benches, and walkways.
We have a secluded, sunken garden between the Manor and the library, two orchards, a croquet lawn, and a lovely kitchen garden that resembles Mr. McGregor’s garden.
We have a croquet set and other garden games in the bike shed next to the croquet lawn which you are welcome to use – please return them if you do.
When you are wondering around or near the Manor House, please be aware that there may be meetings, filming, or other events happening inside, and please be sensitive to guests in other cottages when you pass other buildings and accommodation, and please don’t go into the private gardens of other cottages onsite.
If your shoes get muddy, please do leave them at the door.

Go to the roundabout where you will see the Turnpike opposite you (there are pedestrian crossing traffic lights to cross the Woodstock Road safely).
